As you may be aware, last year the UEFA Champions League final was played in Portugal between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. This is one of the most important sporting events of the year, with thousands of fans travelling to the venue in order to attend this match, and this one was no exception. Breaking in character with their lethargic nature, CP (not to be confused with Canadian Pacific, and yes, it's a joke that's been running for too long), alongside its spanish partner RENFE, organized six trains from Madrid to Lisbon to transport Real and Atlético fans (alongside the "Talgo Lusitania/Sud-Express" which has a branch running between the two cities), some of them reserved to Real Madrid fans, others to Atlético Madrid fans, and a few of them for both, some of them running on the night before the game, others on the day of the game, and all of them using Talgo IV, V, VI and VII coaches. An unprecedented operation that shows that, when things are w€ll organiz€d, CP manages to provide a pretty decent charter service, supplying locomotives in advance and facilitating things.
But that's another tale. This is the last of such trains that entered Portugal, the 8h40 11128 special train from Madrid-Chamartín to Lisboa-Santa Apolónia, with two Talgo IV coaches loaded with Real Madrid supporters, as it prepares to speed by the (nearly) abandoned station of Setil, more than 50 kilometers before the train's final stop.
