So, this is the Lisboa-Oriente (its technical name, since the full name is "Gare do Oriente" - Eastern Station) station, the start and end point for all the southern Intercity trains (Beja, Évora and Faro), placed at the PK 6.480 of the "Linha do Norte" (North Line). It was designed by Santiago Calatrava, and built eleven years ago, for the Expo 98 fair. From the photo, it doesn't seem much, but it's one of the (if not the) most important transport interfaces in Lisbon, linking trains (suburban, regionals, and long range - and, in a near future, TGV), subway and buses.
About that little orange thing in the middle of the photo: in a few minutes, it'll become the 8h10 690/1 Intercity train to Évora. In a few minutes why? Because, first, the locomotive (CP 1935, that, nowadays, is working on freight services) has to maneuver and go to the other end of the three passenger coaches, since the South is in that direction (and so is tie Santa Apolónia Depot, where the long range trains' stock rests, is placed, the place from where this composition has came).

PS: this photo was taken on the 22th of August, not the 21's, as stated on the details, and before the trip I made to take this photo.

That's indeed a very good photo, the 1900 and 1930 séries locomotives are mine favourite locomotives. ;)
And... this photo... for me worths a lot because 1935 was transfered to CP-Carga area... Though... some train drivers told me that the locomotive was on CP-Carga only borrowed... not for ever... I did take photos of 1935 some weeks ago here at Beja, It made me very happy, because I was not expeting seeing it again with the IC train... =D
But... I saw actual photos that the locomotive was again working on CP-Carga... :(

Yes, it was loaned to CP-LC. And I'm not that worried to see it on CP-Carga. At last a way to see the locomotive reaching her full potential :)

Yeah, it's pretty impressive. Doesn't do well against the power of the elements, but, well, you can't have everything, I suppose... :)
Thanks for the :+fav:'s :)
